Gear up for civic polls: CM

He instructed Rajeshwar Reddy to coordinate with ministers, MPS, MLAs, and MLCs from the district.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao has alerted his ministers and his party MPs to get ready for the municipal elections in the state, which will be followed by the by-election in Huzurnagar.

On Tuesday the party chief appointed the party's general secretary and Whip in the State Legislative Council, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, as in-charge of the Huzurnagar assembly by-election. He instructed Rajeshwar Reddy to coordinate with ministers, MPS, MLAs, and MLCs from the district and to be available in Huzurnagar to coordinate and implement the party's poll strategy.

According to the amended Municipal Bill passed in the Budget session of the Assembly recently, candidates having more than three children can now contest the municipal elections, a change from the earlier rule limiting the number of children to two. This amendment has increased the number of contestants in the municipal election, and is making it difficult for party leaders to choose the 'right' candidate.
