Leaders flay murder of HM activist in Kovai
Chennai: Flaying the murder of a Hindu Munnani functionary Sasikumar and the subsequent mob violence in Coimbatore, leaders on Saturday demanded the state government to take stringent action on the culprits involved in the mob violence, besides arresting the killers of the saffron activist.
Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin said the culprits involved in the violence should be identified and brought to book. There could not be contrary opinion about arresting the murders of Hindu Munnani functionary Sasikumar, but resorting to violence to challenge communal harmony and religious amity, besides damaging public property could not be accepted, he said.
PMK founder S. Ramadoss said the solution for the murder is to bring the murderers to book and mob violence could not be justified. The PMK alleged that police were silent spectators when the mob was resorting to violence.
TNCC leader S. Thirunavukkarasu alleged that persons belonging to the RSS, Hindu Munnani and BJP were involved in the violence, ransacking shops, setting fire to vehicles and attacking the public.
CPM state secretary G. Ramakrishnan said HM had utilised the murder to paralyse normal life in Coimbatore, even before the identity of the killer is not known. VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan said the attacks on mosques was an attempt to create communal clashes.
