For Jayalalithaa's speedy recovery: AIADMK men throng Apollo, temples
Chennai: AIADMK leaders and cadres on Saturday continued to throng the Apollo Hospital where Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa is under observation, while party men performed special poojas and prayers at all the temples throughout the state
Despite the hospital issuing a statement that the Chief Minister is taking normal diet, men and women belonging to the AIADMK continued to pour from all directions towards the hospital, which is heavily fortified. AIADMK spokesperson C.R. Saraswathi denied reports that Jayalalithaa would be flying to Singapore for further treatment. The AIADMK functionary said “The reports are false. Amma is very well. Her fever has come down”.
Partymen performed special poojas in temples at various places and broke coconuts and pumpkins with prayers for quick recovery of the Chief Minister. Some of the leaders and MLAs gave annadhanam in temples, while gold cars were pulled in front of many temples. Besides yagnas were performed with prayers for the recovery of the AIADMK leader.
As one approached the Apollo Hospital, a big crowd of men and women from various places of the city and even in other parts of the state are seen outside speaking to each other about the return of their leader to her home, besides wishing that she would get well soon. The one kilometer vicinity of the hospital is dotted with people, who are spending the entire day along the roads and pavements.
Some of the cadre also spent the nights on the pavements, while many went to their homes and returned the next morning. Small vendors selling ground nuts, tea, coffee and other snacks were seen among the crowd, making brisk business and the tea shops and restaurants around the area are crowded with AIADMK activists.
Most of them are determined not to return to their homes till they see their leader return to her Poes Garden residence. Meanwhile, leaders of Puducherry AIADMK also conducted special prayers at temples and churches here for the early recovery of party supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
However, it is not known when she will be discharged from the hospital. Get well messages started pouring from Kollywood with actors Rajnikanth and Kamal Haasan wishing her speedy recovery.
