CPM to counter agenda' politically
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With BJP national president Amit Shah's all set to take part in the party's padayatra in Kannur from September 7, the political temperature in the sensitive district is expected to rise in the run up to the event. The CPM leadership has already given direction to its cadre to remain alert against any provocative action from the side of Sangh Parivar. CPM believes that the BJP-RSS was deliberately focusing on Kannur with the intention of creating trouble on the one hand and to divert people’s attention from multi crore medical college scam involving their leaders and the central government’s total failure in providing jobs and relief to the people.
After the recent murder of BJP worker in Thiruvanantharpuam, the BJP had gone on an offensive against the CPM government. The central government and RSS-BJP national leadership targeted the state government making political violence in Kerala a major talking point in national media. Finance Minister Arun Jaitely’s visit to the capital scaled up the anti-CPM campaign further. CPM leaders say in the initial stage BJP and RSS managed to portray themselves as victims of political violence. But the counter campaign by the CPM during that period presented the other side of the story to the nation.
CPM leadership expects a similar kind of build by BJP during the janaraksha yatra which will be covering the length and breadth of the district. As the yatra will pass through CPM strongholds like Payyannur, Kalliasseri, Pinarayi, Panur and Koothuparamba, the leadership is wary about the designs of the Sangh Parivar. While the cadre has been cautioned against attempts by them to create provocation during the yatra, on the political front the party plans to counter the BJP yatra by mobilising public opinion against their politics.
