CM Pinarayi Vijayan's stand protects corrupt deals: KPCC president M M Hassan

The KPCC president said it is clear that Lok Ayukta has taken cognisance of the allegations of misuse of power and nepotism against the minister.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president M. M. Hassan has demanded the resignation of Health Minister K. K. Shylaja in the wake of Lok Ayukta admitting the petition filed by Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala in connection with the allegations pertaining to the appointment of a member of Kerala State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights. The Lok Ayukta had on Thursday admitted the petition filed by Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala against Health Minister K. K. Shylaja and three others. He had cited irregularities in the appointment of child rights panel member T. B. Suresh.

The KPCC president said it is clear that Lok Ayukta has taken cognisance of the allegations of misuse of power and nepotism against the minister. It has asked for the submission of all files pertaining to the appointment. He said this clearly indicated that there was prima facie evidence against the minister. However, the reluctance of Chief Minster Pinarayi Vijayan to demand Shylaja’s resignation amounted not only to protecting the tainted minister but also defending the corrupt deals. He said the UDF will intensify its struggle against the minister's nepotism.
