Patny nala has become a health hazard, rue nearby residents

HYDERABAD: Residents in the surroundings of the more than 100-year-old Patny nala are a worried lot. The nala, whose width has been reduced to alarming levels over the years, has become too narrow. As a result it overflows whenever there are heavy rains. Having not been cleaned for a long time, the nala has loads of mud, water bottles and all sorts of litter, which spill onto the roads. Many have suggested iron nets on either side of the nala so that household and industrial waste cannot be dumped into the nala, as is happening now.

Many residents have said that seven feet high concrete walls should be constructed on both sides of the nala. This will prevent water from flowing into the residential localities. Moreover, they lament that potholes have become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, which may lead to many health problems.
