Wayanad: Don Bosco College reopens amid tight security
WAYANAD: Don Bosco College, Sulthan Bathery, which was closed for the last two weeks, following violence allegedly by SFI and DYFI activists for reportedly suspending a student over union activities, resumed regular classes on Monday amid tight police security. The violence was a sequel to the college suspending Jishnu Venugopal for union activities in the campus. On July 11, the building and premises of the college were allegedly destroyed by the activists and the college was closed.
Later, the management approached the High Court seeking protection for the college to function regularly. As per the High Court directive, a police team led by Bathery CI Sunil MD was deployed in the premises of the college. More police from the AR camp were also deployed. 14 SFI activists have been remanded following the violence.
