Case against Guruvayoor guard for pulling down woman devotee
Thrissur: The Guruvayoor police on Monday registered a case against a security guard of the Guruvayoor Devaswom who allegedly pulled down a 70-year-old woman while she was waiting in a queue to get Prasadam at the counter inside the temple. The lady broke her thigh bone and had to undergo surgery at Chavakkad Taluk Hospital on Monday. The incident took place last Thursday when the victim Kizhaku Kulathil Kunhi Lakshmi Amma of Peramangalam visited the temple with her daughter-in-law.
After offering prayers, they were waiting for prasadam where the guard, Shiv Shankaran, allegedly pushed her forcefully saying she was not supposed to stand there, said Suresh Babu, a relative. “She fell there and was not able to stand up. As her thigh bones were found broken, she was shifted to the Taluk hospital,” he said. He alleged that despite bringing it to the attention of Devaswom officials and filing a complaint, the authorities did not take any action. But the police is yet to arrest the guard, citing they had not identified him.
