KOZHIKODE: Feroke police registered a case against a teacher of Farook College here for raping a Dalit girl in her teens after promising to marry her. According to the complaint registered on Friday by the girl, the accused Prof. Aziz Tharuvana raped the girl when he was staying in a rented quarters near the college last year. The complaint stated that the professor was already married.
Police started investigation into the case and a probe is on to locate Aziz Tharuvana who is missing for the last few months. Farook College clarified that it had asked the teacher to go on leave. Since the complaint of the girl first reached the institution, the man was on leave, sources said. A native of Tharuvana, Wayanad, Aziz was trying to get flee to the Gulf, it is learnt. The Sections imposed on him were IPC 376 (rape) and Section 31 (12) or the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
