Hyderabad: Srisailam to reach 800 feet tomorrow
Hyderabad: Srisailam, the inter-State multipurpose dam, on Sunday received the season’s first flood of about 21,000 cusecs. Going by the water position upstream, inflows into the Srisailam dam will continue for a few more days.
The Jurala project in Telangana state, Narayanapur and Almatti dams in Karnataka which have reached their capacity, are releasing between 17,000 and 22,000 cusecs of water downstream.
Water at the Srisailam dam stood at 792 ft on Sunday — an increase from 788 ft due to inflows in the last few days and will cross 800 ft by Tuesday.
In what appears to be good news insofar as the water position is concerned, heavy rains have been predicted in upstream Karnataka and Maharashtra.
At Singur, which supplies water to the city, inflows dwindled from 8,500 cusecs to about 2,000 cusecs.
