Temp librarian attempts suicide in Soudha

The police said that Revanna worked as a temporary staffer at the library and had applied for regularisation.

Bengaluru: Panic gripped the corridors of Vidhan Soudha after a man was found in a pool of blood inside a toilet on Monday.

The man later identified as Revanna Kumar (43), an Assistant Librarian at the Gram Panchayath office in Anoor village at Chintamani, attempted suicide allegedly after his application for regularisation of his job was rejected.

The police said that Revanna worked as a temporary staffer at the library and had applied for regularisation. After his application was rejected, he was dejected and wanted to make a final attempt on Monday.

Revanna visited the Vidhan Soudha office and went to the third floor to meet the officials concerned to submit the application. Later around 1.30 pm, he was found in a toilet bleeding profusely and the people who spotted him alerted the police.

The Vidhan Soudha police rushed to the spot and shifted Revanna to Bowring Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

The police recovered an identity card, an appointment letter and the application for regularisation of service. The Vidhana Soudha police are waiting for the librarian to recover to question him.
