Maharashtra: Policemen go out for luncheon with prisoner, suspended
Nashik: In a shocking incident, three policemen were suspended in Nashik after they went out for lunch and drinks with a prisoner. The senior police officials got to know of the incident after the prisoner gave them a tip off.
The prisoner identified as Sameer Pathan, who is charged under MCOCA, was taken to the police station after a court hearing later than the expected time.
Pathan was produced before a court in the month of May. After the court hearing, instead of taking him to the police station, the constables along with Pathan left for lunch in a private vehicle; the cops parked the police vehicle in the jail premises. They returned at 7 pm and were high on alcohol, according to a senior police official.
When the constables were enquired about the delay, one of them used an alibi of car breakdown. Later, an investigation into the incident proved that four of them went out for lunch.
Constables under question Pramod Jadhav, Sagar Bodhle and Rahul Dhondge have been suspended on grounds of misconduct and might end up losing job.
