New Olympiads for school students in Kerala
KOCHI: Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), which organises olympiads for school students, has launched two new olympiad exams globally. These are the International Sports Knowledge Olympiad (ISKO) and the International Company Secretaries Olympiad (ICSO) which will be organised in association with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, under the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
Around 20,000 students have registered for the Olympiad (2015-2016) from Kochi. Some of the regular participants from Kochi include the Navy Children School, Vimalagiri International School, Bhavan's schools, Global Public School and Kendriya Vidyalaya.
The ISKO will include sports & general knowledge questions and students from classes I to X can appear for the ISKO. Awards/scholarships worth around '2.25 crore will be provided to winners/ participants, said the organisers. In addition, for the first time, select state topper students will be invited to appear on a special program on the Star Sports channel.
Meanwhile, the ICSO for students of classes 11 & 12, is designed to assist students realise their aptitude and potential for the Company Secretary's profession. Students from all streams - Science, Commerce & Humanities - can appear for the ICSO. The international topper from each class will be awarded a cash scholarship of '1 lakh each. Over '50 lakh will be awarded to winners of ICSO.
SOF is already partnering the British Council for the International English Olympiad. Mr.Mahabir Singh, the founder & executive director of SOF, said that for the current year, students and schools would be recognised and felicitated with awards and scholarships worth over Rs 14 crore. He added that registrations for the current year are open and registration forms have been sent to schools.
