Rs 97 lakh worth gold seized at Kacheguda
Hyderabad: Three kilograms of gold consisting of 30 pieces each, weighing 100 grams, and worth Rs 97 lakh was seized from a person by the Sultan Bazaar police during vehicle checking at Kacheguda crossroads on Wednesday.
According to the Sultan Bazaar police officials, a 36-year-old, M. Badrinath was intercepted by the police during a local check on Wednesday early morning around 6:30 am at Kacheguda crossroads under the Sultan Bazaar police station limits.
S. Laxman, Additional Inspector of police, Sultan Bazaar told this newspaper that, “The accused was riding an Honda Activa when we intercepted him. Upon checking the vehicle three kilograms of gold was found inside the vehicle. When asked to provide valid documents for the gold, the accused failed to do so. Subsequently, we confiscated the gold, which is estimated to be worth around Rs 97 lakhs and handed it to the Income-Tax department.
