Man impersonates MSK Prasad , collects lakhs from firms

The accused was identified as Budumuri Nagaraju, a resident of Srikakulam district.

Visakhapatnam: Chief Selector of the Indian National Cricket team M.S.K. Prasad claimed that a swindler has been collecting lakhs of rupees from businessmen in his name. The accused was identified as Budumuri Nagaraju, a resident of Srikakulam district.

Mr Prasad, who celebrated his birthday with disabled children at the Hidden Sprouts school in Vizag on Wednesday, revealed that a case has been registered in Vijayawada regarding the same.

He said, “Nagaraju basically registered his number on the TrueCaller app as M.S.K. Prasad and began duping industrialists into giving him money. He collected Rs 2.88 lakh from Celekt Tele company and Rs 3.88 lakh from Ramakrishna Housing, to name a few. I have already filed a complaint with the Hyderabad and Vijayawada police regarding the same.”

While speaking to the this newspaper, Mr Prasad explained that Nagaraju would call businessmen, pose as M.S.K. Prasad on the phone, and ask them to sponsor Kolkata Knight Rider’s new player Nagaraju. Mr Prasad said, “He misled several businessmen by posing as me and telling them that Nagaraju would collect the money from them. Then, he’d go ahead and do it. I received some calls from some businessmen, after which I figured it was best to register a complaint with the police. Soon after, we caught Nagaraju in Srikakulam district but let him go, assuming that he was a rookie. Later, however, I was shocked to hear in the news that a company had actually been fleeced and had filed a complaint regarding the same in Hyderabad. That is when we found out that he had already collected the money. Further, from the pictures on his social media pages, one may discern that he has been attempting to portray himself as an Indian cricketer.”
