Hyderabad: Driver and aide held for cheating

The accused also cheated innocent persons by collecting money from them in the guise of providing government jobs, said the police.

Hyderabad: A city-based man, who worked as a temporary driver at the Telangana State Chief Minister’s Office, was apprehended along with his aide by the Rachakonda Special Operations Team sleuths for mortgaging the cars which he took on rent. The accused also cheated innocent persons by collecting money from them in the guise of providing government jobs, said the police.

The Rachakonda police received eight complaints against Kandula Srikanth Chary (30), a car driver by profession and resident of Badangpet in Balapur. He had taken cars on rent from private persons and mortgaged them.

Chary did not pay back the money and failed to hand over the cars to their owners.

He was involved in 23 such offences since January this year and was held by the sleuths on Wednesday along with his aide Sardar Mahender Singh (37), a financier from Ameerpet, who despite knowing about the offence, had rented out the mortgaged cars in connivance with Chary and took commissions.

Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said that Chary worked as a driver in the CMO, for about 10 months in 2017. He also said that they recovered 23 cars and `4.7 lakh cash from the duo.
