Hyderabad cops rescue 3 minors, 7 abductors arrested

The police are yet to nab two more of the accused, Syeda Bee and Kanaka Raju.

Hyderabad: Three minor children were rescued and seven members of a child kidnapping gang were nabbed by the Chandrayangutta police on Wednesday.

The arrested individuals worked as a group that kidnapped minor boys and sold them at exorbitant prices to couples who couldn’t bear a child of their own. The gang comprised four men and five women from Andhra Pradesh.

The apprehended accused were identified as Vakapalli Gangadhar Reddy, Potla Jyothi, G.Prasad, Gadepe Sindhu, S. Aruna, Korra Munna, and Peddi Laxmi. The police are yet to nab two more of the accused, Syeda Bee and Kanaka Raju.

After receiving a complaint that the minor boy had been kidnapped, the Chandrayangutta police formed a special team to trace him.

G. Koteshwar Rao, Inspector of police, Chandrayangutta police station, explained, “Two teams led by investigating officers — sub-inspector of police S. Krushnaiah and sub-inspector of police M. Kondala Rao — and assisted by police constables K. Dineshwar, T. Prashanth, K. Satyanarayana, and S.Naresh, collected the information and then headed to the Eluru, Rajahmundry, Amalapuram, and other parts of Andhra Pradesh, and apprehended seven of the nine accused persons. Further, they traced the minor at Eluru, along with one minor boy from Amalapuram, and one minor girl from Rajahmundry.” The police also recovered an amount of Rs 35,000 from the gang.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections 370, 420, R/w 34 of the IPC and sections 80 & 81 of the JJ ACT 2015, and they have been remanded to judicial custody.
