CPM used violence as guise: Congress
Kannur: UDF candidate K. Sudhakaran has alleged that the LDF had unleashed widespread violence to help fake voting and that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan did nothing to prevent it in his home turf on Tuesday. But the LDF failed to scare away the UDF voters, he told reporters here on Wednesday. "As the chief minister could not check fake voting in his own booth, he deserves to be addressed as 'Chowkidar Chor Hai,'" he said.
Congress offices were attacked at many places and about 30 polling agents were sent out of the polling stations, he said. The UDF will take legal action against the culprits who prevented voters, including women, from coming out of their homes to vote. "I congratulate the voters who defied these threats," he added.
CPM Kannur district secretary M.V. Jayarajan said Mr Sudhakaran was raising the allegations due to fear of defeat. Complaints of fake voting were raised only in two booths in the constituency, he said and alleged that the UDF engaged in fake voting in its strongholds, including Pamburuthy.
