MALAPPURAM: As many as 125 passengers onboard an Air India flight and its crew had a narrow escape on Monday morning when the tyre of the plane burst while taking off from the Calicut international airport in Karipur. The flight was destined for Dubai from Kozhikode. Nobody was hurt in the incident which took place at around 11.30 am while the plane was moving fast on the runway.
The flight was stopped immediately and taken to the parking bay using a push back tractor. Scared passengers screamed when the plane stared to tremble following the burst. Air India arranged another aircraft to ferry the passengers to their destination later. The mishap affected services of four flights to Delhi, Chennai, Manama and Doha from Karipur. The cause of tyre burst is being investigated.
