Kochi: All police stations in the Kochi city will now have public relations officers as part of the efforts to step up the relationship between the public and the cops. People could avail the services of specially-trained public relations officers to lodge their complaints or seek various other services provided by the department. The services are available round-the-clock. M. Rameshkumar, Assistant Commissioner, Kochi City District Crime Branch, will co-ordinate the functioning of the public relations officers.
They will also follow-up on complaints submitted by the public and take necessary action to provide relief to the needy. The public relations officers will help illiterate, physicall-challenged, elderly, women and children to prepare complaints and also guide them on various related aspects. THey will also ensure that the complainant receive a copy of the first information report filed as part of the investigation in to various cases.
