LIBA, TCS launch business analytics programme
Chennai: The Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), along with leading global IT services company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS announced on Friday the launch of a first-of-its-kind management programme with a specialisation in Business Analytics. Speaking of the course, Fr P Christie SJ, Director — LIBA, said that there is a growing and high demand for Business Analytics these days, and so we decided to offer it as a course of the next academic year (2017-18).
“With students having a specialisation in the second year of PGDM in Business Analytics, there won’t be a dearth of placements,” he said. “With the next batch, it will be introduced as a specialisation but we have future plans to offer it as a full-fledged PGDM programme.” He added that the partnership would mark yet another milestone in the Industry-Academia collaboration to fulfil the growing demand for Business Analytics in India.
One of the key highlights of the course is the ‘Train the Trainer Program (TTTP)’, in which TCS specialists will train the faculty with the Industry knowledge. The course is being offered for weekend executive diploma programme as well as for full-time PGDM students as another specialisation on the lines of courses like HR, Marketing, Finance.
Fr Christie added, “LIBA is the first B-School in India, which is forging ahead in signing an agreement with TCS to offer Business Analytics as a specialisation for the full-time PGDM students”. A centre for business analytics and insights is going to be launched by LIBA in partnership with TCS. Commenting on the launch of the course, Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, Vice President, HR, TCS, said, “TCS designed courses bring in contemporary application oriented inputs to the classroom through its academic collaboration. We are delighted to partner with LIBA in the field of analytics.”
