Grandmother too held in Kundara rape case
KOLLAM: The police have taken into custody the wife of Victor Daniel, 66, accused in the rape of his 10-year-old granddaughter at Kundara, for being a silent witness to her husband’s sexual assault after another 14-year-old girl gave statements on him. The girl revealed that Victor Daniel had been abusing her for the past three years. The police team did not register her arrest as she is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kollam and is under surveillance of women civil police officers.
According to the statement by the girl, Victor Daniel had also assured to marry her off and to deposit money in her bank account. The police had earlier taken Shibu, 35, son of Victor Daniel, into custody in connection with the death of a 14-year-old boy in their neighbourhood. This was based on a complaint filed by the boy’s mother alleging Shibu’s role in the death of the boy.
