Congress stages dharna at RFCL plant in Ramagundam

HYDERABAD: Congress activists led by District Congress Committee (DCC) president Makkan Singh Raj Tagore staged a dharna in front of Ramagundam Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL) at Ramagundam in Peddapalli district on Wednesday protesting against non-payment of salaries to its employees since past few months.

Earlier, Congress workers headed by Raj Tagore tried to get into the RFCL premises saying they would like to interact with workers and try to solve their problems. Security personnel and police officials present there prevented them from doing so.

Speaking outside the gate, the DCC president accused local BRS MLA Korakanti Chander Patel of preventing them from speaking to workers fearing that his irregularities will be exposed if Congress leaders interact with workers. He alleged that in the past, Chander Patel and his followers had collected amounts ranging from ₹6 lakh to ₹14 lakh from unemployed youth assuring them of permanent jobs in RFCL.

But when the youth did not get any employment, they started questioning the MLA and his followers and demanded their money back. But the youth were threatened and even false cases lodged against them. Unable to bear the harassment, three unemployed youth have committed suicide till date, Raj Tagore stated.

He demanded that the MLA return the money he had collected from unemployed youth and management of RFCL to pay salaries to workers. He warned that otherwise, Congress will intensify its agitation against the MLA and RFCL management.
