College chairman booked for sexual abuse of student in hostel

Warangal: Kakatiya University police have booked the chairman of a private college, Bura Surendar Goud, who allegedly tried to sexually abuse an Intermediate second year student in her hostel room, at Bheemaram in Hasanparthy mandal. The accused is absconding, police said.

The case has been registered against Surendar Goud under the Pocso Act for targeting a minor and under the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. According to police, the victim was a student of Telangana Sri Chaitanya Junior College.

On Saturday night, Surendar Goud entered the girl’s hostel room and tried to sexual abuse her when she was asleep. The girl woke up and screamed for help.

The other hostellers began shouting for help after seeing Surendar Goud at that hour. He reportedly beat some of them and warned them against speaking of the incident.

The next morning, the girls informed their parents, who rushed to the college and lodged a complaint with the KU police station.

There is a rowdy sheet against Surendar Goud in the KU police station. He was the prime accused in the murder of a couple in Visakhapatnam. Last year he joined the BJP from the Congress and was a Telangana state committee member in Food Corporation of India.

Representatives of various student unions rushed to the college and staged a dharna demanding the government to take immediate action against Surendar Goud.
