At last, Tamil Nadu consumer commission gets head
Chennai: Former judge of the Madras High Court, Justice S. Tamilvanan, assumed office as President of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on Friday. The post had remained vacant after President of the Commission Justice R. Regupathi retired from service in May 2015.
Justice Tamilvanan, hailing from Velampudhukudi village near Mayiladuthurai, was promoted as district judge in 1990. He was elevated as judge of Madras High court in 2005 and retired from service on February 5. Among others, president, members and advocates of Consumer Forum greeted Justice S. Tamilvanan.
Speaking to reporters soon after assuming office, he called upon the people to file cases challenging food adulteration. Justice S. Tamilvanan said priority would given to clear backlog cases and filling up vacancies in the district consumer forums.
