MK Stalin poser on Jayalalithaa's announcement
Chennai: Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin on Wednesday questioned the legal validity of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa’s announcement of a model scheme for providing crop loans to farmers through the cooperative department.
While welcoming the move, Stalin said the minister’s announcement raises questions over who is running the administration since the Chief Minister’s portfolios had been given to finance minister O. Panneerselvam.
After Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao’s order of change of Chief Minister’s portfolios, an order to retrieve the portfolios to the Chief Minister had not been issued by the Governor, he said and asked him to look into the constitutional implications of the minister’s statement. Stalin appealed to the Governor to ensure that the state government is run as per the Constitution.
