TTD chief pats Jio for free release of online SED tickets

TTD chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy said Jio had come forward to offer TTD both technical and infra support

TIRUPATI: TTD chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy ridiculed ‘charges by vested interests’ and ruled out any malicious motives behind the release of online Special Entry Darshan (SED) tickets for the month of October via the sub-domain of Jio on Friday.

In a statement here on Friday, Reddy recalled that he had informed earlier that in order to overcome technical snags in online booking, Jio management had come forward to offer TTD both technical and infrastructure support to the tune of 'three crore free of cost. In spite of the announcement, a section of the media and some vested interests on social media raised a din causing confusion among devotees, he said.

“Following the complaints and feedback from pilgrims over technical issues in online bookings in August and September, our IT team, with the help of TCS, explored many solutions to overcome the issues. When we approached Jio, Amazon, Abhi bus and Bookmyshow, it was Jio, which came forward to offer free service”, he said.

He said that all SED tickets have now been booked in a smooth manner, thanks to the cloud management support extended by Jio. He clarified that pilgrims were redirected to Jiomart sub-domain from tirupatibalaiji.ap.gov.in website, as the TTD sub-domain could not be created due to time and technical constraints.

Reddy stated that the act of politicizing every good deed of TTD without knowing the facts and trying to malign the reputation of the institution is highly condemnable. He also clarified that they have decided to release sarva darshan tokens online.
