Nellore: The ancient Sri Talpagiri Ranganadha Swamy shrine in Nellore will get a facelift costing Rs 6 crore and another Rs 2 crore will be spent to build a mandapam, water resources minister Dr P. Anilkumar Yadav said on Thursday.
He was speaking after the swearing-in ceremony of new board members for the temple.
The ministers said he could not conduct the Praja Hakku for the past month because of health complications, and said he would resume the programme in the first week of October.
Referring to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s nod for the lining works of Jafar Saheb Canal at an estimated cost of Rs100 crore, the said the department would float tenders for the work within a month.
Tenders will be issued for the second bridge on the Penna River this month, he added.
Ilapaka Sivakumar Achari took charge as chairman of the Sri Talpagiri Ranganadha Swamy temple committee in the presence of the minister. Thummagunta Seshaiah, Sivagami, Ramadevi, Narasimha Charyulu, Chanduluru Ramesh, Srihari Reddy and temple chief priest Kidambi Jagannadha Charyulu took oath as members of the committee.
