Training to tackle disasters at Chennai airport

The personnel would be trained on the measures taken in the airport during the natural disasters including cyclone, floods and fire.

Chennai: Around 200 officials from various departments took part in the five-day sensitizing session, organised by National Disaster Management Authority at Chennai Airport.

The staff from Airports Authority of India, airlines, police department, fire service and Central Industrial Security Force, were selected for the five-day training which ended on Saturday. According to the Joint General Manager, Chennai airport, K. Selva Kumar, the first-of-its kind awareness session would be conducted in 11 other airports in the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Varanasi, Ahmedabad, besides Chennai.

The personnel would be trained on the measures taken in the airport during the natural disasters including cyclone, floods and fire.

Meanwhile, state disaster management force authorities who have completed a few rounds of discussion on monsoon arrangements, have planned to reach out to western districts in case if it rains heavily in October.
