Mizhi expo reveals eager young minds behind lens

50 photographs by 19 youths on display.

KOZHIKODE: The 50 odd photographs of the former students of Nicat media school on display at the 'Mizhi' photo exhibition at art’s gallery unveil promising minds behind the camera. Photographs on display include that of wildlife, nature, landscape, modeling and street life amongst others and were clicked by 19 youngsters offering a refreshing experience to the onlooker.

"We all are new to the profession. The raw snaps from every walk of life are the highlight of the exhibition," says Shinil Raj N.S, one of the lensman. The pictures include that of Anoop M.S which was judged as the second best in the state government's photography competition under the 'Haritha Keralam Sundara Keralam' category this year.

Other notable photographs include 'The ready-to-fry squid in Thailand', 'Nilgiri tahr at the Eravikulam national park', 'Harvest in Tamil Nadu', 'Face-off between snake and cat', 'Flowers and chain tied to jumbo's foot' and 'A man going down in the manhole in the light from a mobile phone' among others. The five-day exhibition concluded on Saturday was opened by artist Paul Kallanode on September 19. Kozhikode Corporation Mayor Thottathil Raveendran inaugurated the valedictory on Saturday. Mr Anoop N.M was felicitated on the occasion. K. Rahul has won the best photographer Niji memorial award and Vishu. P special jury award.
