Hyderabad: Netas invest in illegal' building

Sree Thirumala Infra is constructing the multi-storey building on a 2.53-acre parcel of land.

Hyderabad: The Rs 200-crore multi-level under-construction complex at Madinaguda, whose builder was arrested for dangerous triple cellar excavation, has seven legislators and a nominated Council member invested in it. The GHMC West Zone had seized the site following an inspection. Now, there is pressure on the GHMC to revoke the order. It was found that the area for which permission was granted to build the complex was an encroached nala of Deepthi Sree Nagar.

Sree Thirumala Infra is constructing the multi-storey building on a 2.53-acre parcel of land. Managing director J. Prakash Chowdary initiated the construction, excavated the earth for three cellars at a depth of 30 feet and obstructed the natural flow of a drain without taking precautionary measures. A GHMC source said, “Permission for the venture was granted by the GHMC head office. The nala, which passes through the venture, has been diverted into an adjacent colony. Seven leaders have invested in the venture, besides investors from Delhi and Mumbai.”

He said construction was stopped at times due to the protests from the locals over the diversion of the nala. After the GHMC identified that the three-level cellar excavation endangered 240 apartments and 70 families, officials sealed the buildings. This is worrying the investors who are pulling the strings to revoke the order.
