Ganesh pandals ask for immersion tanks' map in Hyderabad

Many RWA have been protecting lakes and are happy with the tanks that are being constructed for immersions.

Hyderabad: Ganesh pandal organisers (not the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti) want the police to chalk out and release a map marking the areas for immersion of idols, including at the artificial tanks.

A map outlining the immersion points will make sure that lakes that are individually protected by RWAs do not get additional material dumped in them.

Meanwhile many residents’ welfare associations are wondering why the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti is not accepting the proposal of a separate Vinayaka Sagar.

Many RWA have been protecting lakes and are happy with the tanks that are being constructed for immersions.

Mr Shivakanth Reddy of R.K. Puram said, “Over the last few years we have been immersing idols at the Kapra lake. Since the government has been ignoring protection of the lake, residents have taken up lake conservation and carried out sanitation drives at the lake. RWAs are for these artificial tanks being created for immersion purposes; the small idols can be easily accommodated in these tanks. Also, if the authorities give us a plan for the immersion, the activities can be framed by the RWAs much in advance.”
