Tomato Gifts Grab Attention at KTR Birthday Fetes

HYDERABAD: BRS leaders and cadre celebrated the 47th birthday of IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on a grand scale across the state. Charity programmes, blood donation camps and plantation programmes involving ministers, MLAs, MLCs, MPs and local leaders marked the celebration while, the one hogging the limelight was the distribution of tomatoes for free.

Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and BRS Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency in-charge Talasani Sai Kiran Yadav organised celebrations at Necklace Road. Rama Rao's achievements as IT, industries and municipal minister were showcased on a giant 3-D screen. Special songs hailing Rao were released on the occasion.

In Warangal, Rajnala Srihari distributed tomato baskets weighing one kg each to 300 poor people. Last year, Srihari distributed chicken and liquor to 200 party workers.

Leaders from the city organised tomato distribution events at several places, including at Parsigutta.

One Aravind Alishetty went a step ahead. He got a 12-ft high and 45-ft wide luxury painted in pink colour with KTR's bust and his life-size images on a vehicle. He parked it right in front of the Assembly premises to grab the attention of the ‘boss’. On both sides of the bus, he also listed out the minister's achievements like T- Hub, Durgam Cheruvu flyover, T- Works and flyovers. The specially-decked bus will travel through different parts of the city for 10 days.
In Serilingampally, BRS state general secretary Bandi Ramesh led a rally to Allwyn crossroads by bursting crackers.

Sangareddy-based leaf artist Gundu Shiva Kumar carved a portrait of Rao on a fig leaf. Kumar is a well-known leaf artist in Telangana, who has carved nearly 1,000 portraits of eminent personalities.

In Khammam, MLC Tata Madhusudhan organised a blood donation camp at the party office and planted saplings. Meals were served to 500 people at the district general hospital while notebooks were distributed to students of government schools.

In Mahabubabad, minister Satyavathi Rathod inaugurated a mega blood donation camp.

The party MPs celebrated Rao's birthday by planting saplings under the Green India Challenge (GIC) initiative at Tughlak Road in Delhi.
