Bonalu organisers slam ‘inept’ GHMC

The temple premises and the adjoining roads were in a mess as bonam waste and other pooja offerings were strayed all over

Hyderabad: Sunday’s Bonalu at Mahankali temple, Lal Darwaza, exposed the negligent attitude and meek response of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) despite heavy crowds thronging the temple.

The temple premises and the adjoining roads were in a mess as bonam waste and other pooja offerings were strayed all over. GHMC staffing was less than desired.

Former chairman of the temple K. Venkatesh, stated “We alerted GHMC officials and urged them to take care of the temple premises. Yet they did show up for Bonalu.”

When asked about the same, GHMC Charminar zonal commissioner and deputy commissioner, Ashok Smarat and K. Alivelu Mangathayaru, claimed that their teams were working since 6 am and had only taken a brief lunch break.
