Ex-IAS Praveen booked for anti-Hindu gesture
KARIMNAGAR: As per an order issued by the Karimnagar court, the Three Town police registered a case against former IAS officer Repalle Shiva Praveen Kumar, former secretary of Gurukul residential schools, on Friday.
A Karimnagar-based advocate Beti Mahendar Reddy had filed a petition in the court alleging that Kumar had insulted some Hindu Gods by commenting against the beliefs of the Hindu people and provoked other sections of people against Hindu religion.
In a Swaroes meeting organised in the name of Bhim Deeksha in Dulikatta of Julapally mandal in Peddapalli district in March, which was attended by Kumar, a Swaroes member, government teacher Nyathari Shankar Babu, administered a pledge against Hindu religion, he alleged. Kumar had taken that oath, he alleged.
Mahendar Reddy lodged the complaint on March 16 against the Swaroes members and Praveen Kumar. When there was no action, Mahendar Reddy and another advocate, Yennapalli Gangadhar, approached the court.
After hearing the petition, judicial first class magistrate Saisudha on July 21 ordered the police to register a case against Kumar and Shankar Babu and start investigation.
