Thiruvananthapuram: The home department on Friday transferred the DySPs attached to the Vigilance who have been investigating the Titanium and Sports Council scams and the case relating to the illegal wealth of the DySP who investigated the solar case. R. Mahesh, who initiated the quick verification process on the irregularities in the Sports Council, has been transferred as Shangumukham assistant commissioner.
Girish P. Saradhi, who headed the special vigilance unit which was inquiring into the Titanium corruption case, has been transferred to Kottayam. This was done even as the team was about to submit the FIR in the case. Ernakulam special cell unit DySP K.R. Venugopal, who has been investigating the case against the illegal assets of DySP Harikrishnan, who investigated the solar case, was transferred to Aluva.
Those shunted out included officials who have been handpicked and posted in such posts by Vigilance Director Jacob Thomas. T. Ajith Kumar, who was facing trial in the custodial torture death of Udayakumar, has been posted at Attingal. There was earlier a precedence that officials who have been involved in criminal cases are not posted in law and order duty. There were complaints that some of the officials were transferred following the pressure from police association office-bearers.
