Hyderabad: Senior journalist Sanjiv Thomas, 58, passed away due to ill health on Saturday. He had been undergoing treatment for diabetes and kidney related problems at NIMS hospital for the last few days. His wife died two years ago.

During his distinguished career spread over nearly three decades, Thomas earned a name for himself for his objective reporting. He was one of 55 chosen from over 10,000 applicants to work for Doordarshan news in 1989.
Noted senior journalist Emani Krishna Rao, who joined DD the same year as Thomas, said that his passing away was a great loss to journalists’ fraternity.
