C K Janu to play role at national level

Efforts were on to work out a network of supporters for the party in all districts, she added.

KOZHIKODE: Tribal leader C.K. Janu is preparing for a broader role at the national level after her poll debacle in the Sulthan Bathery Assembly constituency as an ally of the NDA. The Janadhipathya Rashtreeya Sabha, the new party formed by Janu, will hold its first state-level leaders’ meeting in Thrissur on August 14. “I have no regrets about joining the NDA or leaving the Adivasi Gothra Maha Sabha platform,” Janu said.

Efforts were on to work out a network of supporters for the party in all districts, she added. A crusader of tribal rights, Janu’s shift to the saffron camp was a shocker to the tribal activists of the state. “My decision was aimed at ensuring justice for the tribal communities of the country through the BJP regime at the centre,” she said and added that discussions were on at various levels to expand her role and serve the people better.

However, she evaded questions on the attack of dalits in North India allegedly by pro-Sangh activists. It may be recalled that her joining the saffron camp had resulted in her expulsion from the Adivasi Gothra Maha Sabha which she had founded with M. Geethanandan, her mentor for a long time.
