Hyderabad doctor bags international award
HYDERABAD: Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, chairman of Asian Institute of Gastroenterology Hospitals, bagged the prestigious V Schindler Award constituted by the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is the first Indian doctor to be bestowed with the distinguished international recognition in the field of medical sciences.
In a virtual ceremony on Monday, this award was given to Dr Reddy for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. The crystal award is the highest category award of Rudolf V Schindler who was the father of gastroscopy. Dr Klaus Mergener, president of ASGE awarded Dr Reddy for his accomplishments in endoscopic research, teaching and service in the field of GI Endoscopy.
Dr Reddy is the first one to promote GI endoscopy in India, said ASGE. Accepting the honour, Dr D Nageshwar Reddy said, "It is very humbling for me as an international member of ASGE to receive this award. This is also a testament to all endoscopists worldwide from developing nations that hard work and dedication are always recognised irrespective of where they work. I rededicate myself to the education and promotion of quality endoscopy."
Dr Reddy also said success would not have been possible without the support of his wife Carol, his family members and colleagues at AIG hospitals.
