Hyderabad: Two officials suspended for poisoning dogs
Hyderabad: Sanitary supervisors Bala Krishna and Mahender of Jilleguda gram panchayat were suspended for poisoning 150 stray dogs.
They had allegedly poisoned the dogs and dumped them in garbage in Kongara forest, about 40 km from Saroornagar.
A case was booked against them under Section 429 of the IPC and Section 11(L) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The complainant, Mr R. Jaideep, had alleged the role of gram panchayat office staff behind the killing.
“Since the involvement of the staffers was confirmed, we will file a revised complaint including their names. Also, we demand that the dog carcasses be cremated and not buried.”
The FIR issued on May 16 by the Meerpet police said a complaint was received from C. Shiva Kumar, Dwarakanagar, Hasthinapuram, through A. Padmavathi, resident of Karamghat stating that some people had killed 150 stray dogs that were healthy, sterilised and vaccinated.
