National Green Tribunal order will pose difficulty for Kerala MVD
KOCHI: The State Transport Commissioner Tomin J Thachankary has said that the NGT order on diesel vehicles will pose a difficulty for the Motor Vehicle Department. “We are yet to receive the copy of the order and its details. I think the state government should file a revision petition or an appeal against the order.”
According to Mr. Thachankary thousands of vehicles including school buses and other vehicles have to be abandoned if the NGT order is enforced. “Once the schools are opened next week, lack of buses will affect its functioning”, he pointed out.
The state already has strict norms on use of vehicles and no vehicle older than 15 years, whether diesel or petrol, is allowed to operate, he said. “Stringent norms are also imposed for bus body building,” he added.
