High Court stance was unprecedented: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

He lambasted UDF leaders for colluding with the accused in the case covertly and shedding tears in public.

KOZHIKODE: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said on Sunday that the High Court’s unprecedented stance in the Jishnu pronoy case has weakened it. “Putting conditions for questioning the accused in custody and regarding the case diary are unprecedented and unexpected,” the CPM leader said at public meeting the party organised at Valayam to clarify party stand in Jishnu Pranoy case.

He lambasted UDF leaders for colluding with the accused in the case covertly and shedding tears in public. Claiming that the party was with the first year B.tech student who committed suicide, Mr Balakrishnan said, “if not, CPM leaders did not have visited his mother Mahija and relatives. The government will not have taken prompt action and put on high alert at each phase of the case.”
CPM district secretary P. Mohanan, K.K Lathika, area secretary T. P. Chathu among other leaders spoke.

After the function, Mr Kodiyeri called on Mahija at her house in the late evening and assured all help in nabbing the accused. The CPM had decided to go for local level meetings to sensitise its cadre over the party stand in Jishnu case which invited much criticism. The first meeting to this effect had held earlier where secretariat member Elamaram Kareem called the protest in front of DGP office as political conspiracy.
