Tirupati: Following in the footsteps of the AP government, which announced a complete lockdown till March 31 to contain the coronavirus infection, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to extend the closure of the Lord Venkateswara temple for pilgrims till the end of the month.

The TTD has earlier decided to stop Srivari darshan for seven days from noon of March 20.

Speaking to media persons at Tirumala on Monday, TTD’s additional executive officer A.V. Dharma Reddy said that in board had decided to keep the temple closed for the public in view of the larger public interest. All the daily kainkaryams will be performed to the presiding deity by archakas, he said.

He said that as a precautionary measure and in view of health and safety of people residing at Tirumala, the twin ghat roads will be closed down from 9 pm to 6 am every day till the end of this month.
