Toms Engineering College claims it has AICTE nod
Kottayam: The Toms Engineering College at Mattakara has received affiliation from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the college authorities said in a press meet at Kottayam. Administrator of the college Shiji Rasheed who was present at the press meet said that the AICTE decided to renew the affiliation of the college. The APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) had earlier cancelled the affiliation of the college following complaints from students and parents who alleged intrusion of privacy, lack of infrastructure facilities, and the harassment being meted out to students at the hostel among other reasons.
After the students complained, the government facilitated the students to study at other colleges. Mr Rasheed said that the college got the AICTE affiliation after the concerned authorities were convinced that the college had the best library, laboratory and computer facilities. This is when there has been allegations regarding these credentials of the college. However, the remaining students who are writing the examinations will not be able to write the examinations without getting back the affiliation of the KTU.
