MP Magunta pleads innocence, denies his son’s involvement in Delhi liquor scam

TIRUPATI: Three days after a Delhi court sent Magunta Raghav to judicial custody in relation to the excise policy-related money laundering case, YSR Congress MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy claimed on Friday that his son was innocent and had no involvement in the alleged liquor scam.

Addressing the media in Ongole, the MP said his family has been engaged in businesses for the last 70 years and never did anything illegal. "My father Raghav Reddy founded the business in 1952. It has now spread to 10 states. I disassociated myself from all of these businesses once I entered politics. We haven’t done anything illegal in politics in the last 32 years," he claimed.

Magunta maintained that his son Raghava Reddy was innocent and exuded confidence that he would be acquitted by the court. He said, "My son assured me that he did nothing wrong." Former minister and Ongole MLA Balineni Srinivasa said it is unfortunate that a “political conspiracy” was hatched against the Magunta family.
