Students’ march to supports farmers; JNU students’ union president leads rally
Visakhapatnam: Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh has said the agitation against farm laws would continue and this was time to oppose the anti-people and privatisation policies of the Modi-led government.
Addressing a rally of students, Left activists and others at Gandhi Park on Sunday, Aishe Ghosh said a united fight would be waged against the ‘anti-farmer’ policies of the Union Government that was “aiming to promote the interests of the corporates at the cost of the farmers.”
Ghosh, a national executive member of the SFI, said the nation was going through turbulent times and called upon the people to continue their struggle against the Modi government till the farm laws were repealed.
She said there was growing unrest all over the country as the BJP-RSS was fanning communal passions. “Those raising their voice against the draconian laws are being killed, women are assaulted as never before and the BJP leaders are supporting the perpetrators of such crimes.” She recalled how a journalist from Kerala, who had gone to cover the Hathras incident, was jailed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
She said the nation was witnessing an Emergency-like rule for the last six years. “All the policies of the Modi government are anti-people.” The NDA government has been “conspiring to handover public sector undertakings like railways, ports, banks and insurance companies to the corporate sector. This would harm the employment sector and public service.”
She asked how BJP and RSS, which were “supporters of the British Raj,” were celebrating the centenary celebrations of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who had fought against the British.
