Nellore: A TikTok actor, Rafi Shaik, living in Ranganayakula Peta, died by suicide allegedly following harassment by some people belonging to Narayanareddypeta at Nellore late on Friday night.
Relatives of the deceased said that the people from Narayanareddypeta abducted Rafi on Wednesday evening beat him up and released him. Before their release, the gang threatened to post the video of their assault on YouTube if he complained to the police.
Shaik’s relatives said they had no idea why he was beaten up. They lodged a complaint with the Nellore Rural police. The police attributed the attack to differences between Shaik and a childhood friend, Mustafa, living in Narayanareddypeta. Mustafa had been nursing a grudge against Rafi for moving with the former’s girlfriend despite his warnings.
Mustafa forcibly took Shaik to his village and threatened him in the presence of one Karthik and the girl. Shaik’s parents also asked him to desist. Shaik died by suicide late on Friday. Police registered a case on Friday and began investigating.
