Vidyarthi Janata flays Front swap

Vidyarthi Janata state president Shamnad Koottikada said they would cooperate with the JD faction that is with the UDF.

KOZHIKODE: Decrying the JD (U) decision to quit the UDF, a section of the party’s student wing has decided to stay back. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Vidyarthi Janata state president Shamnad Koottikada said they would cooperate with the JD faction that is with the UDF. “We cannot support the state government all of a sudden after agitating against all its weird educational policies till now. Besides, our students had borne the brunt of SFI attacks, and we cannot join hands with them,” he said.

"A majority of members are with us. We will participate in the state-level meeting of the JD (U) leaders supporting UDF in Ernakulam on January 26.” According to Shamnad, Kasargod, Palakkad, Ernakulam, Kollam and Kannur district units of Vidyarthi Janata support UDF. But Yuva Janata Dal (Sharad Yadav) national president Saleem Madavoor denied Shamnad’s claim. “They are a minuscule minority, and a majority of the JD (U) students support Veerendra Kumar’s decision to sever ties with UDF,” he said. John John resigned as the state secretary of the JD (U) and convened the meeting in Ernakulam after Mr Kumar announced the decision to quit UDF camp.
