Brand Bengaluru to have own crowd-sourced logo

Aims to put city on global tourism map.

Bengaluru: Come Sunday and the city will have its own logo with Vidhana Soudha providing the backdrop, to give Brand Bengaluru a better identity on the global tourism map. The logo will be unveiled by Chief Minister Siddaramiah at the Namma Bengaluru Habba, a street festival.

Speaking of this initiative of his department, Minister for Tourism, Priyank Kharge says the crowd-sourced logo truly represents the deep connection the city has with its people.

“Today, after months of brainstorming and planning, we have come up with the perfect logo that captures the spirit of the city and its people. What's more, the design comes from the people themselves. The logo will help to leverage Bengaluru’s identity better and create a brand value that could in turn stimulate the hospitality industry and create jobs by attracting more footfalls,” he explains, adding that Brand Bengaluru is not found only in its coffee shops and shopping malls, but is also provided by every citizen, every street and locality.

“The new logo captures and provides an opportunity for citizens , both the old and the new, to really get in touch with the city and its ethos,” he adds.

The venue of the event, the Namma Bengaluru Habba will be a traffic-free, safe and secure public space for citizens and will see cultural performances, artists at work, arts and handicrafts on display, organic markets, film screenings, storytelling sessions, interactive workshops and more.

The festival will also feature special performances to showcase the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Karnataka, and to take visitors back - if only for a short while - into the city's past.

Habba to be hub of various arts and crafts
Besides its many attractions, Namma Bengaluru Habba will have over 20 stalls and a flea market. Some of the stalls will have organic and eco-friendly products like terracotta jewellery, natural soaps, organic grains like millets and millet based products, jute, plants, and handicrafts. There will also be food trucks to cater to every craving.
