In UAE, CM Pinarayi Vijayan woos NRK investors

Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund plans to raise Rs 50,000 crore from investors.

Dubai: Chief Minister Pianarayi Vijayan on Thursday assured the Indian expat community in UAE sovereign guarantee for investors and fair treatment to all investors. “NRIs can play an important role in the development of Kerala. The most important problem in Kerala is distorted and lopsided development. The basic infrastructure –roads, railways, water transport- need a lot of investment. New investors in agriculture development and IT sector need a reasonable return on investment and guarantee”, said Mr Vijayan.

The success of SmartCity project and warm ties with the UAE investors proved the right ambience the State afforded to investors. “We are happy with the progress of SmartCity and the meeting with the Tecom authorities ensured that the delay of one year is compensated by faster development of the remaining work”, said Mr Vijayan. Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund plans to raise Rs 50,000 crore from investors. The CM’s office would directly handle complaints about delays and other investment problems.

Industrial development faced shortage of land and the government would take transparent measures to make available sufficient land. He cited successful IT projects in the state –Techno Park, Info Park and Cyber Park. Smart City is nearing completion. There is need for transport infrastructure development –highways, waterways to improve connectivity. LPG pipeline project too is a priority.
